Collision tests demonstrate that the Cuore provides sufficient cabin space and protection for driver and passengers to survive 50-km/h front and side collisions with a heavier vehicle. The safety-conscious design includes reinforced straight side members, impact-dispersion body structure, and use of high-strength steel plates. These combine to improve cabin rigidity without adding excessive weight.

Impact-Sensing Release System
The Cuore's power door lock with impact-sensing release system helps prevent further damage and facilitate rescue following an accident. When the system senses impact, it automatically unlocks the doors and turns on the room lamps so occupants can exit quickly and easily or emergency responders can better provide assistance. The system also turns on the hazard flasher, which can help other vehicles avoid a secondary collision or alert people to call for help.

Child Seat Restraint Anchorages
A child seat is an extremely important safety consideration for families with small children. The Cuore's rear seat comes with ISO-FIX* child seat restraint anchorages. Secure an ISO-FIX-compliant Britax Römer "Duo plus" or "BABY-SAFE plus"(dealer option) child seat to these anchorages, and even the smallest member of the family can ride in comfort and safety.

Dual Air Bags and Other Safety Features
The Cuore's extensive list of safety features includes dual air bags, side air bags, front seat belts with pretensioner and force limiter, and pillar garnish and roof with built-in impact-absorbing material to cushion heads from impact. The Cuore is also equipped with anti-retraction brake pedal mechanism and anti-protrusion steering wheel mechanism. For pedestrian safety, the bonnet and wiper pivots feature shock-absorbing structures.

  

ABS (Anti-skid Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) Control
The Cuore offers an ABS (Anti-skid Braking System) that incorporates EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) control. With EBD, the brake force is optimally distributed among all four wheels to ensure safe, effective braking. Supplementary assist power is also provided. This generates a powerful stopping force even when the brake pedal is not fully depressed during sudden braking.
